The Four Corners Fossil-Fuel Generating plant is located 18 miles west of Farmington, a community of about 40,000, in the northwest region of New Mexico.

 

Because the Four Corners Fossil-Fuel Generating plant is on the Navajo Reservation,  Navajo preference will apply in the job selection. 

Summary

The Safety Analyst Sr. at Four Corners Power Plant under moderate supervision assists in development, implementation and evaluation of programs, procedures and processes to assure personnel and facility safety. Conducts trend analysis, audits, investigations, and site inspections of operational procedures, facility design, equipment, materials and employee behaviors. Analyzes data in compliance with current regulations and makes appropriate recommendations to prevent new or recurring accidents. Develops and/or conducts employee training, emergency preparedness and QA programs. Evaluates and recommends new equipment purchases, new and modified processes and non-routine work. May act as lead person on small to medium projects. This position may require emphasis on industrial safety, emergency preparedness (fire, medical, etc.), industrial hygiene technology, and/or behavioral science.

Minimum Requirements

BS in safety management or a related field and 2 years of professional safety experience, OR Associates degree in same and 4 years professional safety experience, OR 6 years professional safety experience. Requires strong written and oral communication skills as well as good human relations skills.

Major Accountabilities

1) Assist in development, implementation and evaluation of programs and procedures to assure personnel and facility safety.

2) Conduct audits, investigations and inspections of procedures, designs, equipment and/or employee behaviors.

3) Provide designated training to identified employees.

4) Monitor the work area's safety standards in accordance with Federal, State and Company policies.

5) Provide technical support and guidance to management in area of emphasis.
