The Four Corners Fossil-Fuel Generating plant is located 18 miles west of Farmington, a community of about 40,000, in the northwest region of New Mexico.
Because the Four Corners Fossil-Fuel Generating plant is on the Navajo Reservation, Navajo preference will apply in the job selection.
Summary
As a Generation Vendor Coordinator, you’ll serve as the vital link between APS and its vendor and contractor partners at our Four Corners Power Plant; ensuring that engineering, construction, and maintenance projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
In this role, you’ll oversee multiple work streams at once, guiding vendor teams through project delivery while maintaining alignment with plant operations, environmental standards, and APS policies. You’ll set clear expectations, monitor progress, and ensure all work supports plant reliability, compliance, and long-term performance.
 
Key Skills & Tasks
Vendor Oversight – Provide daily direction, feedback, and performance expectations to contractors and vendor partners to ensure work quality and compliance.
Project Coordination – Manage and track multiple simultaneous project work streams to ensure milestones are met safely and efficiently.
Communication & Liaison – Serve as the primary point of contact between APS and vendor teams, maintaining clear communication across all stakeholders.
Safety Leadership – Ensure that all employees and contractors follow strict safety procedures and environmental compliance standards.
Quality Assurance – Monitor contractor work to confirm it meets APS’s technical and operational requirements.
Scheduling & Logistics – Coordinate work schedules, access requirements, and on-site activities to support timely project execution.
Problem Solving – Identify and resolve issues that may impact scope, cost, or schedule, escalating as needed to maintain alignment.
Continuous Improvement – Recommend process improvements to enhance contractor performance and project outcomes.

Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
 - Seven (7) years experience as an Auxiliary Operator, Control Operator, Fuel Handler and/or maintenance journeyman working at an electrical utility.
 - Two (2) years experience working and interfacing with vendors.
 - Working knowledge of Construction Standards, OSHA Standards and Environmental Regulations.
 - Computer skills (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets and scheduling).
 
Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:
- Experience working at a coal plant.
 - Knowledge of electric busses and load centers.
 - Project management experience.
 - Experience leading projects.
 - Previous leadership experience.
 - Experience working in a union work environment.
 
Major Accountabilities
1) Functions as point-of-contact liaison between APS and vendor contractors.
-Adjusts work orders and/or schedules as necessary with vendors.
-Reviews work packages to ensure all required information/material is provided to vendor before start of work and ensures all required work is completed appropriately by vendor to close package.
-Provides contractor performance feedback to vendor companies.
2) Coordinates with Planning department, Work Week Coordinators/Schedulers and multiple vendors/contractors to support on-going APS projects.
-Oversees contractor work to ensure completion is on schedule and within budget.
-Makes appropriate adjustments to work scope and/or personnel when necessary.
-Ensures contractor daily work scopes are filled out properly and adhered to by each contractor.
-Provides approval to start and complete work.
3) Orients all new vendors/contractors in the APS Safety Culture and provides required training on safety processes and procedures.
-Ensures all vendor companies hold their employees accountable to the APS safety standards and practices while working on APS property and projects.
4) Reviews and enforces environmental policies and procedures to avoid an environmental incident as it pertains to the contractors work activities.
5) Completes on-boarding and off-boarding of contractors as needed in the Smart Track System and Access Request Management System (ARMS) for badging and access requirements.
6) Conducts pre-job brief and job hazard analysis (JHA) for each specific job with contractors using the work packages.
-Ensure all contractors are familiar with lock out/tag out (LOTO) procedures, isolation points, and hazards.
7) Originates service requests, work orders and contract requisitions for emergent work for contractors (priority 1 or 2) and then oversees work is executed in timely and effective manner.
8) Obtains parts and materials from the warehouse for contractors as required.
9) Ensures the project construction documents are adhered to, redlined, as-built and issued for future reference.
-All final documents should reflect any required changes.

CIP Requirement:
This position requires Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) access consistent with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards. The applicant considered for this role will be required to obtain and maintain CIP access for the duration of employment in this position. A full seven (7) year criminal history will be obtained through the pre-employment background check process (or, for current employees, through supplemental background check process) to fulfill the CIP access requirements.
