Summary
As a Cybersecurity Intern you will work alongside cybersecurity, IT, and audit professionals to help ensure applications, processes, and controls meet organizational and regulatory standards. This internship offers students an opportunity to gain real-world experience supporting cybersecurity and technology assurance activities that help keep APS systems secure, reliable, and compliant. The work contributes to the safe and reliable operation of critical infrastructure that serves APS customers and communities.
Potential Projects and Experiences
- Partner with cybersecurity and IT teams to gather and organize information that supports security reviews and audits.
- Help evaluate applications and technology processes to ensure they align with established security and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with team members across different business areas to improve processes and strengthen cybersecurity assurance efforts.
- Analyze data, research findings, and technical information, then summarize results through reports or presentations.
- Gain exposure to how organizations maintain secure operations and reporting to regulators, auditors, and business stakeholders.
- Contribute to projects that help improve visibility, accountability, and cybersecurity readiness across the organization.
Who We’re Looking For
- Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science (with a cybersecurity focus), or a related field.
- Interested in cybersecurity governance, compliance, audit, assurance, risk management, or application security oversight.
- Interest in learning how business applications and systems operate behind the scenes and able to understand technical concepts.
- Strong collaboration, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross functional business partners.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred
This paid, temporary full-time internship spans 10 weeks during the summer. Interns receive mentorship, professional development, opportunities for site visits, networking, and more.
Minimum Requirements
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate or graduate degree program.
- Must show ongoing achievement in areas of study and training.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3.0 GPA or higher.
Major Accountabilities
1) Performs simple to intermediate analysis and designs. May assist in preparing business/engineering plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates, evaluations and studies.
2) Assists in research, business documentation, studies or technical reviews. Conducts analyses, investigations, verifications and summarizes results or findings in written reports or oral presentations.
3) Utilizes internal resources to learn business/engineering operations/functions and apply learning in completion of work assignments.
4) Coordinates efforts with other disciplines, and/or departments in achieving project goals and task assignments.
5) Performs other related duties as required.

- Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
- Working from a home office requires adequate technology and an appropriate ergonomic set up.
