Summary

The Billing Representative will interpret, analyze, and complete timely billing of customer accounts through the Customer Care & Billing system (CC&B) and associated To Do's (residential, commercial accounts, including solar accounts and Field Activities). In addition, the Billing Representative will conduct research and detailed analysis of accounts while using sound judgement, critical thinking skills and decision-making skills. Ensures all accounts are billed according to the policies set forth in APS's Service Schedules, approved and regulated through Arizona Corporation Commission.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Two (2) years billing, customer service, call center or related billing experience

 

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of CC&B experience typically obtained through at least one (1) year experience in another APS Customer Service position.
  • General understanding Socs and DOC ticketing and ADMS application.
  • General understanding of AMI infrastructure - including meter types/programs, rate compatibility and rate structures.
  • Knowledge of register and interval read data is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze, apply and accurately bill APS rates in accordance with the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) Rules and Regulations according to Schedule 1 and Schedule 8.
  • Knowledge of Solar programs and Construction processes.
  • Knowledge of emerging practices and technologies used within the area.
  • Knowledge and ability to utilize applications and systems applicable to the business unit (Meter Data Management System (MDMS), Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) and AMI Cognos reports, head end metering applications such as Connexo, Command Center, and FCS, etc.).
  • Knowledge of ACC Rules and Regulations that relate to billing APS customers along with VEE guidelines.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt in times of change according to priorities, assignments, emerging rates and technologies.
  • Communication skills for exception resolution to internal and external customers.

Major Accountabilities

1) Accurately complete daily assigned Billing To-Do's. Research, analyze and resolve billing items and ensure correct billing statements are issued within internal, state and/or federal guidelines (i.e. Schedules 1 and 8, Arizona Administrative Code). Meet established quality and timeliness metrics.

2) Perform various billing calculations and corrections by applying analytical and technical capabilities while using the CC&B. Utilize multiple systems and tools including CC&B, ADMS, MDMS, AMI Cognos Reporting, head end metering applications such as Connexo, Command Center, and FCS. Pro-rater, Billing Knowledge Base, and other billing tools.

3) Analyze and research metering data, meter type and rate compatibility, and service-related issues for Field Activities.

4) Ensure proper revenue recovery from APS customers by understanding the ACC Rules and Regulations.

Provide accurate billing statements within appropriate guidelines and parameters while maintaining strict accuracy levels.

5) Completes User Acceptance testing (UAT) and Regression testing as needed (e.g., CC&B updates, Rate Case, Billing Projects, Customer Programs, etc.).
