Summary

The Business Product Manager I / II plays a pivotal role in shaping and delivering digital solutions that align with business strategy and customer needs. Manages a broad scope of responsibilities often overseeing multiple products and features simultaneously. Owns the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and coordinating across teams to drive execution. Supports the development and adoption of product roadmaps, facilitates cross-functional collaboration, and ensures that product decisions are informed by data and user insights. Partners with stakeholders across the organization to translate strategic goals into actionable product features, driving value through iterative delivery and continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements

Business Product Manager I 

  • A four-year Bachelors degree in Business, Information Technology, Analytics or other job-related field from an accredited college or university
  • Plus three (3) years of experience in product management, business analysis and/or other job-related positions. 
  • In lieu of bachelors degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience in product management, business analysis and/or other job-related positions equaling seven (7) years.

 

Business Product Manager II 

  • A four-year Bachelors degree in Business, Information Technology, Analytics or other job-related field from an accredited college or university
  • Plus eight (8) years of experience in product management, business solution development or other job-related field.
  • In lieu of bachelors degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience in product management, business solution development or other job-related field equaling 12 years.

 

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of business operations and customer-centric design principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams, communicate effectively, and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience in training, change management, and agile methodologies.

Major Accountabilities

1) Owns and communicates the product vision and roadmap across all levels of the organization to ensure alignment. Leads the development and adoption of product roadmaps that reflect business strategy and guide quarterly planning efforts.

2) Manages multiple products and/or features, balancing competing priorities and ensuring delivery of customer and business value. Leverages qualitative and quantitative data to inform product decisions and prioritize features.

3) Participates in exploratory research and applies active listening to understand customer needs and behaviors. Collaborates with customer experience teams to develop customer journeys, wireframes, prototypes and process maps focused on usability and accessibility. Supports user research and experimentation to validate product concepts and improve user experience.

4) Builds strong relationships with stakeholders and fosters cross-functional collaboration across teams and departments to ensure high-quality product outcomes. Champions team culture and innovation, promoting transparency and alignment throughout the product delivery process.

5) Drives execution of the product roadmap, balancing delivery speed with quality and business impact. Promotes agile practices and rapid feedback cycles to enhance responsiveness and continuous improvement.

6) Provides subject matter expertise and mentorship to junior product managers and product delivery teams. Leads by influence across divisions, fostering a culture of adaptability, innovation and learning.

7) Partners with Technical Product Owners and stakeholders to ensure product development reflects industry trends and market needs. Acts as an informed expert within the business unit, leveraging market insights to guide product strategy.

Hybrid: Employees in hybrid roles work both in their home offices (virtually) and alongside their colleagues (in person). 

In order for employees to build strong relationships and to promote meaningful in-person interactions, hybrid employees are expected to work about 40% of their time in-person at an APS or other (non-home office) location. 

  • Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).  
  • Working from a home office requires adequate technology and an appropriate ergonomic set up.
