Summary
The Senior Customer Project Representative provides leadership in the coordination, oversight and execution of major and diverse customer projects. Serves as the primary point of contact for Level 3 and Level 4 project segments, managing key elements such as schedule milestones, budget estimates, expenditures and variance analysis. Projects typically require cross-functional collaboration and alignment across multiple departments to achieve critical objectives within demanding timelines.
Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Construction Management or other job-related field from an accredited college or university plus five (5) years experience in project management, utility construction, customer facing roles involving scope definition, timeline coordination, budget management and stakeholder engagement and/or other job-related fields.
- Or, Associates degree plus seven (7) years experience in project management, utility construction, customer facing roles involving scope definition, timeline coordination, budget management and stakeholder engagement and/or other job-related fields.
- Or, high school diploma/GED plus nine (9) years experience in project management, utility construction, customer facing roles involving scope definition, timeline coordination, budget management and stakeholder engagement and/or other job-related fields.
- Valid Arizona Drivers License.
Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:
- Experience in electric utility industry and customer-facing roles.
- Ability to adapt and respond to a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to manage complaints, negotiate and problem-solve.
- Business planning and project management skills.
- Proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, CC&B, GIS, Maximo, Primavera and other work order/project management tools.
- Analytical skills for evaluating project variables.
- Basic electricity knowledge, drafting/CAD experience and completion of college-level Algebra.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of survey and right-of-way policies and procedures.
Major Accountabilities
1) Successfully completes the APS Customer Project Training, including on the job training (OJT).
2) Manages moderate-to-complex projects (e.g. master planned communities, subdivisions, multi-family developments, commercial and industrial). Plans, designs, schedules and coordinates all phases of the project from initiation through construction, energization and close out while ensuring alignment with company standards for power sourcing and cost-effective design. Oversees project execution to ensure customer requirements are met and that work is consistent with APS policy and procedures.
3) Collaborates with customers, developers, internal departments and municipalities to assess needs, define project scope and obtain necessary plans, maps and drawings. Determines facility layout in consultation with customers, municipality liaisons and internal Planning and Operations. Resolves routine problems, communicates updates affecting facilities, and fosters strong working relationships.
4) Manages project resources, materials, budgets and design estimates. Coordinates cross-functional activities, reviews deliverables, monitors progress and sets priorities to ensure timely and successful project completion. Manages project logistics and negotiates resource allocation.
5) May provide ad hoc leadership support and guidance to junior Customer Project staff in developing work authorizations and cost estimates. Advises on Schedule 3 policy implementation (lines and services extension) and feasibility studies. Serves as a formal mentor, offering technical and project management expertise, and supports agreement preparation, materials/equipment procurement, invoicing and approvals.
6) Assesses the need for easements from property owners and permits from municipal authorities. Partners with APS Right-of-Way to obtain required easement and permit documents. Coordinates and oversees project designs.
7) Supports the development and delivery of training programs.
8) Participates in project teams and peer groups to recommend process and procedural improvements.
9) Reviews lessons learned from completed projects and integrates insights into future planning and execution.
10) May provide emergency response support during emergency events such as summer storms and/or other catastrophic events.
