Summary
APS is looking for a Data Management Consultant to join our growing team. The Data Management Consultant supports the vendor relation management with our strategic alliance partners on the construction team.
What you will do:
- Develop and produce reporting and advanced data analytics to provide new insights related to Contract Management Office operations and effectiveness.
- Leverage structured and unstructured data, performance measures, and cost information to support critical management decision-making and strengthen vendor relationship management across the Transmission and Distribution organization.
- Provide leadership and direction to analysts while serving as a technical resource to department and enterprise partners.
- Work closely with subject matter experts, business partners, and alliance contractors to turn data into critical information and insights that improve operational performance, cost efficiency, and vendor engagement.
- Ensures the accuracy, consistency, and transparency of contract, project, and invoice data that support safe, timely, and cost-effective capital execution.
- Handle continuous improvement efforts and stakeholder alignment.
Minimum Requirements
- BS degree in Business, Engineering, Math, Data Analytics, or related field and eight (8) years of experience in performance statistics, project management, transmission/distribution/plant operations, analytics, and/or data science.
- In lieu of degree, high school diploma/GED and twelve (12) years' experience in performance statistics, cost/budgeting, transmission/distribution/plant operations, analytics, and/or data science.
Requires strong working knowledge of one or more of the following: project management practices, Lean process improvement methodologies, and financial or project reporting systems that support capital and operational programs. Must have a strong understanding of data analytics methods and tools with demonstrated ability to extract, transform, and analyze large datasets to drive insight, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Preferred special skills, knowledge or qualifications:
- Comprehensive knowledge of APS contract management, invoicing, customer project design, financial, and project systems, with proven analytical skills and methods.
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI or similar) and developing performance scorecards or dashboards for leadership and vendor audiences.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to present technical and complex information in a clear, understandable manner.
- Strong organizational and presentation skills; able to work effectively independently and in a team environment with focus on collaboration and customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrated creative thinking, analytical capability, curiosity, and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Experience supporting vendor performance or relationship management programs preferred.
Major Accountabilities
1. Lead analytical reporting and performance insights for the Contract Management Office (CMO) by modeling complex problems, identifying trends, and using Lean and visualization techniques to uncover improvement opportunities.
2. Ensure integrity and alignment of financial and project data across systems such as PowerPlan, Hyperion, and Supply Chain tools, maintaining data accuracy through reconciliation, validation, and vendor compliance audits.
3. Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, reports, and scorecards that communicate vendor performance, PO lifecycle health, and invoice accuracy, providing leadership with clear, actionable insights.
4. Lead quarterly vendor performance reviews, integrating safety, cost, delivery, and compliance KPIs. Present findings and facilitate performance discussions with APS and alliance partners to drive accountability, strengthen relationships, and support infrastructure growth.
5. Apply project management and Lean methodologies to improve data workflows, automate reporting processes, and streamline CMO operations for greater efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.
6. Provide analytical and advisory support for monthly, quarterly, and annual capital reporting, performing variance and trend analyses that inform strategic and operational decision-making.
7. Serve as the primary data and analytics subject matter expert, offering guidance on data systems, governance, and visualization tools; mentor team members to strengthen analytical capability and audit readiness.
8. Drive continuous improvement and innovation by identifying opportunities to enhance analytics practices, adopt new tools, and refine vendor performance processes aligned with APS and industry best practices.
9. Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Finance, and T&D leadership to ensure consistent metrics, shared assumptions, and unified reporting standards that improve visibility and decision quality.
10. Contribute to CMO and enterprise strategy by transforming data insights into recommendations that influence departmental goals, optimize vendor performance, and advance APS’s long-term operational excellence.

Flex Role:
This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work, but the ultimate decision is the company's. Employees will have two options to choose from:
- APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.
- Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.
*Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
