Summary

Finance Technician | Treasury Operations

As a Finance Technician in the Treasury department, you'll play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of incoming payments from various sources, including checks, ACH transfers, and wire transactions. Your attention to detail and proactive communication will help maintain smooth financial operations and customer satisfaction.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and post incoming payments from multiple sources, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Conduct research to identify the correct accounts for payment postings, collaborating with internal teams and external customers to gather necessary information.
  • Follow up with internal departments and external customers to obtain missing or incomplete payment details, ensuring timely and accurate account reconciliation.
  • Maintain accurate records of transactions and provide support for audits and financial reporting.

Minimum Requirements

Finance Technician | Treasury Operations

  • High School diploma
  • AND minimum three (3) years experience working in an accounting or finance environment using analytical skills. 
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college or university can substitute for the three (3) years of experience. 
  • Knowledge of computer software to create graphic presentations and/or spreadsheets using formulas or maintain databases.


Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration. 
  • Experience performing extensive research using a variety of sources. 
  • Strong organizational, analytical, mathematical, interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills.

Major Accountabilities

1) Researches various payment methods within accounting systems to identify where payments should be applied.
2) Processes ledger transactions timely and accurately.
3) Assists in the preparation, development and coordination of specific administrative functions or activities to support the department and Pinnacle West (PNW).  Serves as liaison between departments as necessary
4) Prepares financial deposits and processes through remote check capture systems.
5) Communicates with various customers ensuring the availability of prompt and accurate information.
6) Researches unallocated payments and manually processes tasks to correct errors.
7) Assists in management of daily cash through sending and verifying wires or other transactions.  Assists in producing an annual and monthly forecast of cash needs for PNW, APS and other subsidiaries.
8) Assists in analyzing and researching costs incurred to maintain banking services for PNW, APS and other subsidiaries.
9) Develop and maintain as needed company, industry, financial and rating based statistical studies and analysis; identify trends and parameters and evaluate data to assist in developing appropriate recommendations. Analyze, maintain, and reconcile operations accounting systems.
10) Develop specialized reports and/or presentations by researching, organizing and evaluating various data and/or specialized databases ensuring effective, accurate and visual appeal.
11) Maintain and assist as needed in the development of database systems to ensure the highest standard of data integrity.
12) Develop or assist as needed in the development and/or revision of policies, procedures and technologies used within the department
13) Assist as needed in analyzing and researching costs incurred to maintain banking services for PNW, APS and other subsidiaries.
14) May be responsible for monitoring and performing collection activities for various accounts within the accounts receivable system (ARS).
15) Monitors and performs collection activities for various accounts within the accounts receivable system (ARS).
16) May be responsible for covenant compliance for PNW and APS.
