The 18-month IT Rotational Program provides an opportunity to sharpen technical skills and business acumen in an environment where the individual will be at the forefront of APS IT Initiatives. Throughout each rotation, the Rotational Analyst will gain hands-on/real-time experience working on important and challenging projects.
Analysts will rotate through the following areas: Infrastructure and operations, Applications and Planning and Governance. Responsibilities within each rotation will include a combination of assignments, participating in structured learning, and preparing formalized feedback. Throughout the rotational program, the Analyst will work with mentors to enhance soft skills including presentation, collaboration, and networking.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering or related field.
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Prior Intern/Co-op experience in IT

Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills, along with strong written and verbal communication skills.

A strong understanding of relational databases & SQL, the Software Development Lifecycle, software QA & testing best practices

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications: Participation in the APS internship program is highly preferred.

Ability to work independently and in group settings.

Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others.

Creative problem-solving skills and quick thinking, practical, decision making skills.

Commitment and passion to develop into a cross-functional team member who will make a direct impact on company success

Major Accountabilities

1. Support the design, development, modification, and/or configuration support of applications and programs

2. Support production systems, analyzes and resolves production problems in a timely manner; resolves end user service requests as assigned

3. Complete unit test application changes to ensure quality of work; tests new features, enhancements, and defect fixes

4. Maintain documentation of processes, guidelines, tools, and training aids required to support business unit.

5. Analyze, debug, and resolve defects in applications

6. Assist in identifying and evaluating systems and procedures that are cost effective, efficient, reliable, and meet user requirements

7. Assist in research or analysis that may help in architecture planning

Flex Role:
This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work. Employees will have two options to choose from: 

  • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.
  • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.


*Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
