IT Business Technical Analyst, Senior | Infrastructure Security
Are you a highly organized, detail-driven professional who loves connecting technical solutions with business needs? APS is seeking a Senior IT Business Technical Analyst to join our Infrastructure Security team—where you’ll play a key role in supporting cyber audit readiness, security projects, and continuous improvement initiatives that keep Arizona’s energy infrastructure secure.
In this role, you won’t just analyze workflows—you’ll help shape and implement the technical solutions that keep our security operations running smoothly and efficiently.
What your day would be like:

Gather and translate business requirements into system solutions and project deliverables.

Develop and execute test cases to validate security enhancements and remediation actions.

Collaborate across Infrastructure Security, IT, and compliance teams to coordinate project efforts, timelines, and resources.

Track and report on the remediation of audit findings through management action plans.

Support systems configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of tools that help us meet compliance and security goals.

Contribute to ongoing process improvements that increase workflow efficiency and audit readiness.

Minimum Requirements
IT Business Technical Analyst, Senior | Infrastructure Security
- Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field
- PLUS seven (7) year of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
- Requires in-depth level of technical knowledge within a job area and working knowledge of other technical areas

- Skill in assessing business requirements via interviews, requirements determination using structured techniques for documentation, analysis, evaluation/validation; decomposition of high-level information into details; abstracting low-level information; distinguishing requests vs needs; distinguishing requirements vs. solutions; classifying/ prioritizing requirements; OO techniques using UML models; ambiguity analysis, ensuring consistent understanding across users, designers and testers; business process modeling of current state and desired/future state processes; defining and managing scope and client expectations, requirements change management and traceability; identifying and mitigating risks; applying creativity to solving complex
- Ability to advocate technology changes that provide value and support APS business goals; meet commitments; foster relationships amongst the business leaders; adapt to technology changes; put systems and procedures in place to assure that all relevant information is shared consistently; organize, prioritize, and plan work activities
- Apply creative solutions to business problems to ensure business needs are most effectively met; understand and anticipate needs and priorities of both internal and external stakeholders; demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations and streamline work processes.
Major Accountabilities
1) Analyzes the most complex business problems to be solved with automated systems; considered an expert in solving technical issues
2) Leads and provides direction for short- and long-term planning sessions to ensure understanding of business goals and direction
3) Leads development and communicates business requirements and functional specifications for the design and implementation of business solutions
4) Prioritizes immediate business needs and recommends options, risks, cost, and benefits
5) Analyzes highly complex business problems to be solved with automated systems
6) Reviews and approves test plans
7) Ensures test strategies involve appropriate integration and process components
8) Designs details of the most complex systems
9) Provides recommendations for the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology
10) Directs development of visualization, and user experience elements of solution design
11) Provides consultation to users in the area of automated systems
12) Provide guidance, coaching and training to lesser experienced employees within job area
13) May manage major/complex projects involving delegation of work and review of work products

Home Based: Home based employees primarily work from their home offices and come into an APS facility on an as-needed basis.
*Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
