IT Infrastructure Analyst II – Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP)
Are you a security-minded IT professional who thrives in high-impact environments? We’re looking for an IT Infrastructure Analyst II to help us support and protect the systems that power Arizona. In this role, you'll play a key part in maintaining and enhancing APS’s NERC CIP environments, ensuring we meet regulatory requirements while delivering reliable service across critical platforms.
You’ll be supporting a variety of high- and medium-impact systems including Energy Management Systems, Generation facilities, and Transmission & Distribution substations—making this an essential position for both compliance and infrastructure stability.
What your day would be like:
- Deliver hands-on technical support for key infrastructure supporting APS’s critical systems.
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot systems within regulated environments to ensure uptime and compliance.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and ensure servers and applications are patched according to applicable regulations.
- Analyze systems and recommend improvements to ensure alignment with security and operational standards.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Experience supporting a diverse Windows Server environment.
- Experience using tools and methods to successfully ensure patch delivery and schedules.
- Understands NERC CIP frameworks or similar compliance standards.
- Is detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and documentation skills.
- Enjoys working collaboratively across teams and balancing operational needs with compliance priorities.
Minimum Requirements
IT Infrastructure Analyst II – Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP)
- Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field
- PLUS two (2) years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
- Requires working technical knowledge gained through experience within a job area or system.
Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications
Involvement in various Windows Server environments, ensuring that they are patched on time, and to the required quality standards. Coordinate with various stakeholders such as engineers and application owners, to ensure smooth patch deliver.- Work closely with a team of IT professionals, providing compliance guidance, training, and support to ensure that they can deliver their tasks efficiently and effectively. Establish performance metrics and evaluate the team's performance to ensure that they are meeting the set targets.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure that projects are delivered without any adverse impact on the organization. Monitor the progress of projects and take corrective action as required to ensure that they remain on track.
- Ensure that all procedures worked are following relevant CIP regulatory requirements and safety standards. Follow all safety guidelines to identify and avoid potential hazards and take corrective action to mitigate risks.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in the organization's capabilities and develop and implement initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
- Compliance adherence is critical to the success of this position. Continued input and a forward lean in attitude toward process evaluation and improvement is necessary for success.
Major Accountabilities
- Knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and equipment, to include installation and patching of equipment such as servers, appliances and PCs
- Window server administration
- Scripting experience
- Troubleshooting and resolution practices; system performance analysis techniques
- Knowledge of NERC CIP010 change management practices
- Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Patch my PC, ServiceNow, SigmaFlow experience a plus
- Skill in learning complex technical procedures and acquiring regulatory environment knowledge
- Working independently and as part of a team; using creative and innovative thinking to solve complex problems

Home Based: Home based employees primarily work from their home offices and come into an APS facility on an as-needed basis.
*Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
*Working from a home office requires adequate technology and an appropriate ergonomic set up.

CIP Requirement:
This position requires Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) access consistent with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards. The applicant considered for this role will be required to obtain and maintain CIP access for the duration of employment in this position. A full seven (7) year criminal history will be obtained through the pre-employment background check process (or, for current employees, through supplemental background check process) to fulfill the CIP access requirements. In addition, this position requires an additional background check every seven years to maintain access.
