Summary

The IT Release and Configuration Analyst I/II is responsible for managing and maintaining all aspects of software release and configuration management across the organization. This role ensures that project software, documentation inventories, and configuration baselines are accurately tracked and controlled. The analyst oversees version control systems, source code repositories, and release tracking tools, ensuring compliance with change and configuration policies. Additionally, the role involves performing environmental visioning controls to support consistent deployment and operational readiness across development, testing, and production environments.

Minimum Requirements

IT Release and Configuration Analyst I/II

  • Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field and 2 year of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • Requires working technical knowledge gained through experience within a job area or system

 

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of change management frameworks; use of change management tools and software deployment processes utilized in the enterprise; mainframe and/or web programming languages and techniques; common configuration techniques; multiple project software interfaces and hardware systems; common release and release/configuration documentation practices; interpretation and application of source codes
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills; reviewing and evaluating various types of releases for process compliance
  • Ability to develop and write technical documentation; provide clear and concise communication with all release stakeholders; learn release component deployment processes and techniques; demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations and streamline work processes
  • Ability to respond to requests for service and assistance; effectively resolve conflicts; maintain confidentiality

Major Accountabilities

1) Effectively coordinates and tracks the release process

2) Plans, assesses, executes and oversees assigned releases

3) Performs assessment of readiness for a release and acts as the single point of contact

4) Assigns change orders for deployment

5) Ensures and documents successful completion of changes

6) Assists with environmental visioning control projects/related work

7) Assists with basic maintenance of control systems and tracking systems

8) Completes projects related to management, revision and maintenance of organizational source codes

9) Conducts configuration audits and take actions to resolve issues found in audits

10) Assists with setting baselines according to configuration management plans and strategy

11) Maintains the configuration management plans

12) Follows standard IT practices including Change Management, Release Management, and necessary coding/configuration guidelines
