Summary
As a Meter Technical Specialist Senior, you will act as the SME (subject matter expert) in metering. This role acts as the technical leadership in metering and field installations. The SME serves as liaison with customers, coordinate resources for all metering projects, ensure correct materials, equipment and manpower are provided for project completion, perform simple job design, and assist with the complex design of metering projects.
*Note: Some job duties include field activities that are performed outdoors at various project sites.
What you will do:
- Development, review, and approval of installation workflows for various meter forms
- Resolution of complex technical issues escalated by field teams
- Guidance on field repairs and incident response
- Planning and coordination of meter firmware upgrades
- Arc flash investigations and safety reporting
- Assurance of safety and compliance with APS and regulatory standards
- Daily/weekly field audits with contractors to uphold safety and procedural integrity
- ESRM updates and participation in Totalization & Master Metering committee
Minimum Requirements
You must have :
- High school diploma/GED and minimum five (5) years related work experience, of which at least two (2) years experience must be in the Meter Technical Specialist role.
Our ideal candidate will have these preferred skills and qualifications:
- Two (2) years as a Journeyman Electric Polyphase.
- Experience with rubber glove (RG) practices.
- Proficiency in computer skills, electronic theory, scientific math, circuit analysis, ESRM and NEC.
- Thorough knowledge of company safety rules and practices, and of the labor agreement, APS Construction Standards, Accident Prevention Manual and OSHA standards.
- Demonstrated high level of competence in leadership, decision making and planning/organizational skills.
- Must possess good communications and interpersonal skills.

Flex Role:
This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work, but the ultimate decision is the company's. Employees will have two options to choose from:
- APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.
- Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.
*Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
