Summary

The Security Coordinator acts as first responder to the scene of criminal activity against the company, emergencies, or life safety issues (i.e., intrusions, fire alarms/evacuations or other unusual or emergency situations)
using only reasonable means of force to control and/or make the situation safe. Coordinates security related activities and functions with the Security Operations Center during assigned shifts. Serves as a liaison between the company and Law Enforcement agencies statewide.

Minimum Requirements

- High school degree or GED plus five (5) years experience as a full time Certified Peace Officer and/or Military Law Enforcement Officer.
- Criminal Intelligence and Threat Assessment background preferred.

- Must be able to meet the Arizona P.O.S.T. standards for firearms qualification with their assigned firearm, as this position is required to be armed. Must be able to perform duties all required duties while wearing personal protective equipment.

- Must be able to maintain proficiency with all assigned weapons as required, be able to respond to unusual or emergency situations using only reasonable means of force to control and/or make the situation safe and must be able to perform all duties stated wearing personal protective equipment.

- Must meet all requirements outlined in the APS Authorized Weapons Procedure, including passing an initial psychological evaluation. It is highly preferred that any separation from a Law Enforcement Agency has occurred within five (5) years of the date of appointment to APS Corporate Security.

Major Accountabilities

1) Regularly responds to emergencies, life safety issues (i.e., intrusions, fire alarms/evacuations or other unusual or emergency situations.

2) Conducts preliminary investigations and writes detailed incident reports.

3) Maintains effective site security of corporate assets through utilization of contract staff, security systems and monitoring; ensures all security procedures, post orders and emergency plans are in place and implemented as situations dictate.

4) Ensures that proper site security and security systems exist system-wide through site audits and customer contacts.

5) During Critical Incidents, initiates and directs immediate action while acting as an Incident Commander within the scope outlined in the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

6) Maintains communications within the Chain of Command structure to include affected business units. Maintains confidentiality related to sensitive investigations and incidents.

7) Ensures compliance with Company policies and procedures and State and Federal laws by maintaining a working knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and laws including the Regulatory Compliance Requirements as they apply to the Corporate Security Department.

8) May act as the companys liaison with local, State, and Federal law enforcement agencies supporting crime-related investigations and other security matters.

9) Responds to call-outs on a rotational basis or as needed to support the Unit.
