Summary
The Senior Integration Automation Specialist performs and/or coordinates the installation, testing, maintenance and repair of equipment for the APS Energy Management System to acquire data from APS and other utilities electrical system in order for APS operations, other APS departments, and other interconnected utilities can successfully manage the electrical system including distribution, transmission, and generation. Research and develop new equipment and schemes to acquire data for the EMS.
Minimum Requirements
- Equivalent to a high school diploma and experience troubleshooting and repairing metering and control systems and eight (8) years related experience.
- Ability to work on all types of supervisory equipment used by APS.
- Understand the functionality of control schematics.
- Ability to travel statewide, work outdoors, and work overtime.
- Demonstrated experience in substation design concepts/practices relating to substation control.
- A thorough understanding of protection, metering, and control concepts.
- The ability to apply and solve mathematical formulas using algebra and trigonometry.
- Familiarity with electronic circuit fundamentals.
- Demonstrated personal computer skills including working knowledge of both hardware fundamentals and software applications.

Major Accountabilities
1) Perform and/or train, and coordinate P&C techs, Journeyman, and others in the installation, shakedown, and testing or RTUs, meters, and other instrumentation to ensure safe and reliable operation.
2) Design or assist in the design of RTU's, substation meters, and other instrumentation installations.
3) Investigate, analyze, and correct SCADA, communication, metering, and other instrumentation failures and misoperations.
4) Perform repair on RTU equipment and other instrumentation.
5) Perform acceptance testing and field configuration of RTU's, communication processors, microprocessor based protective relays, and other instrumentation.
6) Train and instruct specialists, P&C Techs, Journeyman, and others in the maintenance and construction of RTU's, meters, and other instrumentation.
7) Develop new SCADA applications for new RTU's and Intelligent Electronic Devices.
8) Specify and order PMAC related equipment to support Construction and Maintenance.
9) Configure RTU's in Distribution Automation projects to improve overall system efficiency.
10) Design and install SCADA and metering for Distributed and Renewable Generation sites
11) Design, install and maintain AGC SCADA applications at power plants both APS and other plants under contract to APS.
12) Perform all tasks assigned with little or limited direction.

CIP Requirement:
This position requires Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) access consistent with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards. The applicant considered for this role will be required to obtain and maintain CIP access for the duration of employment in this position. A full seven (7) year criminal history will be obtained through the pre-employment background check process (or, for current employees, through supplemental background check process) to fulfill the CIP access requirements. In addition, this position requires an additional background check every seven years to maintain access.
Onsite: Requires work to be performed in the field and/or at an APS facility. Depending on the responsibilities of the role, this may include, but is not limited to, working at a power plant, job site, or in the community.
