Summary
The Supervisor, Intelligent Grid Operations oversees the overall management and operations of the Meter Data Analytics Team (MDAT) with responsibilities over the data quality and systems that support APS’ metering infrastructure, including both Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI and non-AMI). The Supervisor, Intelligent Grid Operations responsibilities also include meter data strategy, integrity, operability assurance, system health, and meter related software upgrades. This role oversees department budgets and processes involving many internal and external stakeholders including the Company's key customers, regulators, communities, and contractors. You will be responsible for developing staff's technical expertise on various AMI-related technologies, operations and maintenance work practices and standards. This Supervisor develops and maintains relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including vendors, utilities, and trade associations. You will regularly report to senior management on program status and advise on AMI issues and opportunities.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors' degree in engineering, science, finance, information technology or business plus four (4) years of experience in meter operations, information technology, utility transmission/distribution systems, and/or related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, a combination of education and experience totaling eight (8) years of experience in meter operations, utility transmission/distribution systems, and/or related experience.
Preferred knowledge, skills, or qualifications:
- Knowledge of meter technologies, markets, the electric utility industry, and relevant state and federal requirements preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent technical, business, planning, and project management skills.
Major Accountabilities
1) Lead a team responsible for the implementation, operations, and maintenance of the Company's AMI communications network and related devices.
2) Provide technical direction to the company for AMI technologies and related issues.
3) Identify, develop, and execute AMI network projects and programs, consistent with the strategic plan, both directly and through collaboration with other organizations.
4) Manage department budget and resources to maximize the benefit to customers and the corporation.
5) Stay abreast of trends (technical, market, regulatory, and political) in order to maximize corporate benefits and minimize negative impacts.
6) Develop and maintain technical expertise regarding AMI network technologies, including their safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations and maintenance.
7) Develop, implement, and oversee procedures and processes to ensure AMI network communication compatibility with industry standards and practices and ensure adherence to all applicable codes, regulations, and compliance requirements.
8) Represent the Company on programmatic issues and related matters to external stakeholders and industry associations.
