Summary

Metro Service Planning Supervisors are responsible for overseeing highly complex construction projects in the Metropolitan Phoenix area, including Sky Harbor Airport, high rises, hospitals, data centers, heavy commercial and industrial projects, master‑planned communities, and other complex projects that require new substations. The role develops and manages construction business by meeting with new and existing customers, preparing and presenting proposals, negotiating contracts, and ensuring projects remain profitable. Major responsibilities include planning, design, coordinating service to new and existing customers, customer communications, key and community account management, facility upgrades, rebuilds, relocations, inspections, and survey/right‑of‑way activities. The position must establish relationships and communicate regularly with developers.
This role also manages a high volume of work orders and services that involve substantial financial oversight.
 
What Your Day Would Be Like:
 
  • Oversee complex construction and service projects, including major facilities, master‑planned communities, and developments requiring new substations.
  • Meet with new and existing customers to understand needs, discuss solutions, and support long‑term development plans.
  • Prepare and present proposals, participate in contract negotiations, and ensure projects remain profitable.
  • Coordinate planning, design, and service delivery for new and existing customers, including upgrades, rebuilds, relocations, inspections, and right‑of‑way activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with developers through consistent engagement and communication.
  • Manage a high volume of work orders and services involving substantial financial oversight.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors' degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field plus six (6) years' experience in the design of distribution electrical facilities.
  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree, high school diploma/GED plus ten (10) years of working experience in technical, engineering, or operations related positions where extensive knowledge of transmission and/or distribution systems operations, maintenance and/or construction is obtained.

 

Preferred knowledge, skills, or qualifications:

 

  • Customer Project Management experience or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated leadership and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to effectively function in a business environment where direct competition for our services exists.
  • Working knowledge of, Maximo, MS Office Products and applicable software programs, company policies, procedures and tariffs.
  • Required to support Metro Construction / Operations / Maintenance Supervisors as a back-up as needed. 

 

Major Accountabilities

1) Plan, design, and coordinate service to new and existing customers in the Metro Phoenix area.

 

2) Prepare and present proposals to customers to develop new business.

 

3) Prepare and negotiate contracts ensuring projects are profitable and in compliance with company policies, rates and Municipality limitations.

 

4) Control design service costs to within budget by scheduling resources to maximize productivity without sacrificing customer service.

 

5) Promote safety awareness and accident prevention through safety meetings and implementation of safe work procedures and practices.

 

6) Effectively interface with customers and municipalities to assess their needs, determine scope of the project, make key decisions regarding layout of company facilities.

 

7) Maintain a technically competent department to meet the needs of customers. Hire, supervise, evaluate and develop a multi-discipline staff.
