Summary

The Tax Analyst II prepares federal and state corporate income tax returns using general knowledge of industry practices, techniques and standards; assist with a variety of federal and state tax audits; respond to moderately complex inquiries from federal and state tax authorities; research routine federal and state tax issues; assist with federal and state accounting for income tax (ASC 740) process. Work is closely supervised and follows specific, detailed instructions. Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor, and other personnel in the department.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in tax, accounting or related field
  • In addition, a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • or MBA, MST, CPA or JD
  • or equivalent work experience in tax, accounting or related field

Major Accountabilities

1) Accurately complete tax returns on a timely basis.
2) Successfully and efficiently operate tax return processing computer software.
3) Ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations.

4) Preparation of calculations and support for company’s effective tax rate, accrued taxes and deferred tax analysis.
5) Assist department management and personnel in responding to routine inquiries from tax regulatory authorities, including basic requests for information from government tax auditors.
6) Research and resolve routine federal and state income tax issues.
7) Promptly and accurately respond to routine inquiries from other APS departments and affiliated companies.
8) Reduce company tax liabilities through routine tax planning. This includes examining company practices and procedures and recommending cost-saving changes.
9) Preparation of the tax allocation calculation, quarterly estimated tax payments, budget and 5-year forecast for tax and coordination of the 1099 preparation process.
