Summary

 

We are looking for a Technical Writer to join our Transmission and Distribution team! 

 

As a Technical Writer with our team your role: 

 

  • Develops, writes, edits, and maintains operating and maintenance policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Observes operating activities to determine operating procedure and detail. 
  • Interviews operations, maintenance, planning, engineering, and supervisory and management personnel and reads reports and other material to become familiar with operating systems and processes. 
  • Organizes materials and completes writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology.


Minimum Requirements

 

  • Must have AA/AS degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience in an electric industry environment
  • And two (2) years’ experience drafting operating and maintenance policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Must possess strong verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in PC software applications including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Power Point.

 

 

This position may require access to and/or use of information subject to control under the Department of Energys Part 810 Regulations (10 CFR Part 810), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) (15 CFR Parts 730 through 774), or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Chapter I, Subchapter M Part 120 ) (collectively, U.S. Export Control Laws).

Major Accountabilities

 

1) Develop and maintain operating and maintenance policies, processes, and procedures

 

2) Manage and maintain the policies, processes, and procedures database, library, and metrics.

 

3) Ensures compliance documentation aligns with applicable regulatory requirements.

 

4) Maintain technical proficiency in the assigned discipline.

 

5) Submits timely reports and other appropriate correspondence.

 

6) Maintains personal safety.

 

7) Demonstrates the ability to learn and to help others.

Hybrid: Employees in hybrid roles work both in their home offices (virtually) and alongside their colleagues (in person). 

In order for employees to build strong relationships and to promote meaningful in-person interactions, hybrid employees are expected to work about 40% of their time in-person at an APS or other (non-home office) location. 

  • Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).  
  • Working from a home office requires adequate technology and an appropriate ergonomic set up.
