Summary

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma/GED plus completion of an automotive trade school, automotive/diesel technology diploma, documented military equipment/mechanic program or completed a manufacturers specific automotive/equipment program (e.g., certification from John Deere, CAT, Cummins, Doorsan, General Motors, Ford, Taylor Dunn, etc.) plus five (5) years of auto/diesel mechanic experience.

Valid Drivers License.

Standard NRC clearance.

EEI CAST Test Administered.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications:
Knowledge of vehicle systems, repair and maintenance.

Nuclear requirement:
Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member. Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage. This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities. These are conditions of employment at PVNGS.

Major Accountabilities

1) Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment (dozers, cranes, loaders, etc.) including servicing, tuning, rebuilding and overhauling.

2) Diagnoses and repairs various systems such as: gasoline and diesel engines, automatic and manual transmissions, air conditioning, hydraulic brakes, steering and wheel alignment, electrical and electronic systems, drive train and exhaust systems on automotive equipment.

3) Orders parts, documents time on work orders, updates computer database and researches factory manuals to solve difficult problems.

4) Performs oxyacetylene and electric welding, blacksmithing and fabricating.

5) Performs maintenance repairs and inspections on mobile hydraulic systems. Performs aerial safety inspections and repairs on lift equipment.

6) Performs related work as required such as fuel truck driving, fuel dispensing and tire repair.
