Summary
The Electrician Team Member maintains and repairs complex electrical/electronic equipment from system to component level at Palo Verde.
Troubleshoots, tests and inspects equipment to ensure safety and reliability.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems and a keen interest in mechanics, rigging, equipment operation, and control instrumentation. This role requires a proactive individual who is eager to learn and contribute to various aspects of our operations.
Minimum Requirements
3 years working experience in the Electrical craft per ANSI 3.1 1978. Possess a high degree of manual dexterity and ability and should be capable of learning and applying basic skills in maintenance operations. High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Skills:
- Performs maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on electrical-mechanical equipment typical of an industrial facility. Examples include overhead cranes, conveyors, electric chain hoists, elevating equipment and winches.
- Repaired AC/DC circuitry to include 120 / 24 volt control circuits and ~480 volt 3 phase circuits
- Experienced and knowledgeable in analog and digital systems to include programable indicators, variable frequency drives, PLCs and solid state components
- Mastered the use of measuring & testing instruments such as ammeters, ohmmeters, voltmeters and testing lamps
- Ability to work from verbal instructions, blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical publications and instruction bulletins
- Must be capable of displaying abilities in electrical safety and troubleshooting with present or previous certifications
Testing:
EEI MASS Test administered.
(Meets or exceeds minimum education and experience requirements per Palo Verde Procedure 01DP-0EMO8, Appendix A.)
Nuclear requirement:
Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.
Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.
This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.
These are conditions of employment at PVNGS.
Major Accountabilities
1) Installs, inspects, troubleshoots and tests electrical equipment such as motors, generators, controllers, transformers,
switchgear and circuit breakers and batteries.
2) Installs, inspects, troubleshoots and tests electronic equipment such as voltage regulators, inverters, battery charges, static transfer switches, and solid state trip devices.
3) Operates the stations electrical test equipment, special application tools and instruments used in maintaining conventional and nuclear control and safety systems.
4) Performs engineering level tests such as high potential insulation testing, battery capacity testing and inverter load tests, analyzing and recording results.
5) Maintains certification to perform independently through successful completion of classroom and OJT training requirements.
6) Coordinates and performs work with electrical and non-discipline work groups and outside contract groups and agencies.
7) Develops and maintains a practical working knowledge of chemical and radiological hazards associated with daily work activities.

This position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site, due to the nature of work.
Any PVGS employee may be called upon for random Fitness For Duty Testing (FFD) during scheduled working hours. Employees must report to FFD at Palo Verde as soon as reasonably practicable, but no more than 120 minutes after being notified. Employees who are onsite when notified will have no more than 60 minutes to report after being notified.
