Summary

APS Palo Verde is looking for a Enterprise Risk Management Summer Intern to join their team in Tonopah, AZ.

The APS Enterprise Risk Management Summer Intern will have the opportunity to gain hands-on work experience and work on the companies Enterprise Risk Management program, including identification and implementation of improvements in the process.

This position will have the opportunity to interact with stakeholders across multiple departments including, APS CHQ and Palo Verde business groups. Responsibilities are not limited to but may include the following:

  • Analysis of existing Enterprise Risk Management process and register to identify modernization opportunities and improvements.

  • Design and develop desired outcomes (i.e. indicators and metrics) for the Enterprise Risk Management process.

  • Build the business case for suggested improvements to the Enterprise Risk Management Process.

  • Collaborate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to gain alignment and approval of the desired changes to the Enterprise Risk Management process.

  • Implement the desired Enterprise Risk Management changes to improve the program.

The Palo Verde Summer internship is a paid 10-week program, starting in May, ending in July. During the 10 weeks at Palo Verde, you will be equipped with the tools needed to thrive and be challenged with meaningful individual and group projects. You will get support from leaders who will help you succeed.

Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in a New Hire Orientation, Professional Development opportunities and company tours to learn more about Palo Verde and Arizona Public Service. Qualified students will receive housing during the program, if an in-person internship.

Minimum Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate program as a Business or Risk Management, a related field. or a graduate MBA or MIS program
  • Must show ongoing achievement in areas of study and training with a GPA of 3.0 or higher


Nuclear requirement: Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member. This is a condition of employment at PVNGS. Roles and Responsibilities defined in Policy 1503 and implementing policy guide are applicable to all PVNGS employees.

Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage. This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited college or university and knowledge / education / experience in Information Services business applications.

Major Accountabilities

1) Performs simple to intermediate analysis and designs. May assist in preparing business/engineering plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates, evaluations and studies.

2) Assists in research, business documentation, studies or technical reviews. Conducts analyses, investigations, verifications and summarizes results or findings in written reports or oral presentations.

3) Utilizes internal resources to learn business/engineering operations/functions and apply learning in completion of work assignments.

4) Coordinates efforts with other disciplines, and/or departments in achieving project goals and task assignments.

5) Performs other related duties as required.

Hybrid Role:
This position combines working in the office and at home, based on the needs of the business. The schedule will be determined with the hired employee and leadership, but the ultimate decision is the company's.

 

Any PVGS employees may be called upon for random Fitness for Duty (FFD) testing during scheduled working hours. Employees, if off-site, must report to FFD at Palo Verde as soon as reasonably practicable, but no more than 120 minutes after being notified. Employees who are onsite when notified will have no more than 60 minutes to report after being notified.
