What your day would be like:
As a BI Analyst I, your day will involve partnering with leaders across Palo Verde and APS to understand their data needs, helping to shape reports and dashboards that fuel operational decisions. You’ll dive into business intelligence applications, fine-tuning performance, solving technical problems, and ensuring that our teams have accurate, real-time insights at their fingertips.
You are responsible for:
- Collaborating with business units to gather and prioritize data and reporting requirements.
- Supporting the design, maintenance, and performance of BI tools and platforms.
- Troubleshooting BI-related issues and optimizing the flow and accuracy of information.
- Defining data parameters such as filters and indexing to improve accessibility and speed.

Minimum Requirements
IT Business Intelligence Analyst I | Palo Verde
- Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field
- PLUS two (2) years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experienc
- Requires working technical knowledge gained through experience within a job area or system
Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications
- Knowledge of business intelligence database structures, algorithms, best practices and auditing mechanisms; data warehousing and performance concepts;
- common and complex business intelligence tools; change control and business intelligence agility methodologies; performance tuning practices; the development of complex SQL inquiries, business intelligence products such as (Tableau, Business Objects, Oracle);
- data warehouse objects, dimensions, hierarchies, fact tables, and aggregates;
- HTML and CSS; practices to create creative designs for information in print, online, and interactive formats; the integration, production, and usability of graphic solutions related to information design; visual design practices; type, illustration, and layout techniques for information design; specialized visualization tools; database and statistical programming languages (SQL or R)
Nuclear requirement
- Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.
- Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.
- This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.
- These are a condition of employment at PVNGS.
Major Accountabilities
1) Maintains the quality of metadata repository by adding, modifying, and deleting data
2) Monitors and assists with processes and controls that maintain data integrity
3) Participates in planning process including inception, technical design, development, testing and delivery of BI solutions
4) Works with internal clients and IT partners to gather requirements
5) Develops and writes business requirements for the design of solutions
6) May determine and analyze commonly used queries and reports
7) Assists in the development of end user training materials

Home Based: Home based employees primarily work from their home offices and come into an APS facility on an as-needed basis.
*Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
*Working from a home office requires adequate technology and an appropriate ergonomic set up.
