IT Network Engineer II/III | Infrastructure-Palo Verde

 

As an IT Network Engineer II/III at Palo Verde, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of APS's communication networks. You’ll be responsible for the deployment, configuration, and monitoring of network hardware, ensuring seamless operation across our infrastructure.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain active network equipment to ensure smooth communication across the APS infrastructure.
  • Monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and implement solutions to optimize availability and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex network challenges.
  • Ensure network infrastructure aligns with organizational goals and supports business-critical operations.
  • Certifications: CCNA, CCNP preferred OR the willingness to obtain this certification with first 12-months of employment.

Location-Based Role:
This position requires employees to work at the (Location), with some flexibility. Flexibility will be determined with the hired employee and leadership.  

 

Nuclear requirement:
Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.
Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage. This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities. These are conditions of employment at PVNGS.

 

Minimum Requirements

IT Network Engineer II | Infrastructure-Palo Verde

  • Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field
  • AND two (2) year of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience. 
  • Requires working technical knowledge gained through experience within a job area or system

 

IT Network Engineer III | Infrastructure-Palo Verde

  • Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field
  • AND five (5) years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • Requires strong technical knowledge within a job area or system and basic knowledge across related technical areas


Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of business and industry needs, as well as the technical demands; network design, installation, maintenance and operations; extensive knowledge of internet, computer, routers, switches, firewall, Wireless, VOIP etc.; IT security; hardware and software for firewalls; firewall installation, configuration and maintenance; various computer software applications, computer/networking hardware, standard operating systems and any other computer-related technologies
  • Certifications: CCNA, CCNP preferred
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure and application monitoring technologies such as Cisco DNA Center
  • Skill in effective communication to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to recognize the importance of customer focus and/or of serving the needs of the end user; solve problems analytically; feel comfortable working with different teams, clients and groups of staff across an organization; prioritize personal workload; troubleshoot technical problems, including working with clients to diagnose and resolve problems; work independently and manage team work simultaneously

 

Major Accountabilities

1) Leads network and communication area

2) Formulates, implements and coordinates designing, installing and maintaining of internal systems
3) Provides advanced level troubleshooting with network equipment
4) May conduct infrastructure planning and development
5) Leads design and development activities
6) Implements and supports the network infrastructure
7) Assists specialists in more complex analysis, design, development, tests and debugging to increase efficiencies
8) May provide guidance and assistance to other employees
