Summary
APS is looking for full-time ABET Accredited Engineering students who can help guide our business forward! Students who are interested in experiencing, practicing and learning engineering systems and fundamentals in real work settings.
The Palo Verde Summer internship is a paid 10-week program starting in May, ending in July. During the 10 weeks at Palo Verde, you will be equipped with the tools needed to thrive and be challenged with meaningful individual projects. You will get support from leaders who will help you succeed.
Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in a New Hire Orientation, Professional Development opportunities and company tours to learn more about Palo Verde and Arizona Public Service.
Qualified students will receive housing during the program.
The primary recruiting method for Palo Verde is through attendance of college career fairs. We will be represented at the following schools: Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, University of Arizona, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, New Mexico State University, University of New Mexico, Missouri University of Science and Technology, University of Wisconsin- Madison, Grand Canyon University, University of Nevada Las Vegas, and Colorado School fo the Mines.
Minimum Requirements
- Actively enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university undergraduate or graduate Engineering degree program.
- Must show ongoing achievement in areas of study and training.
Preferred
- Minimum GPA of 3.2.
Nuclear Requirements
Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.
Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.
This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.
These are conditions of employment at PVNGS.
Major Accountabilities
- Performs simple to intermediate analysis and designs.
- May assist in preparing business/engineering plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates, evaluations and studies.
- Assists in research, business documentation, studies or technical reviews.
- Conducts analyses, investigations, verifications and summarizes results or findings in written reports or oral presentations.
- Utilizes internal resources to learn business/engineering operations/functions and apply learning in completion of work assignments.
- Coordinates efforts with other disciplines, and/or departments in achieving project goals and task assignments.
- Performs other related duties as required.

- Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
- Working from a home office requires adequate technology and an appropriate ergonomic set up.

Any PVGS employee may be called upon for random Fitness For Duty Testing (FFD) during scheduled working hours. Employees must report to FFD at Palo Verde as soon as reasonably practicable, but no more than 120 minutes after being notified. Employees who are onsite when notified will have no more than 60 minutes to report after being notified.
