Summary

The Senior Scheduler leads teams to effectively prepare and execute online and/or outage schedules. The Sr Scheduler will coach others on the use of Site Scheduling Standards and industry best practices. Mentors entry level and lesser qualified schedulers. Assists Work Week Managers and Outage Managers in project planning, scheduling and execution.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma/GED plus six (6) years power plant experience of which four (4) years must be journeyman level or equivalent experience in maintenance, scheduling, planning, operations work control or engineering projects. Demonstrate proficiency of the Sr Scheduler major accountabilities. Detailed knowledge of plant systems and their operating interfaces and interactions. Experience with computer programs used for scheduling, prioritizing and tracking plant work activities. Excellent communications skills, ability to work across organizational boundaries and willingness/ability to lead.
Nuclear requirement: Any PVGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member. Any PNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage. This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities. These are a condition of employment at PVGS.
 

Major Accountabilities

1) Develops and maintains resource loaded schedules, including lists of activities, major milestones, critical approvals, long lead procurement items and other critical project deliverables to be scheduled and tracked for the projects.

2) Analyzes available resources, scheduling reports, trends and schedule variations for schedule performance and accurate schedule forecasting.

3) Reviews and analyzes the impact of emergent changes and schedules loss and reports to site management.

4) Executes scheduled projects and performs daily outage/online copy processes.

5) Tracks and monitors Preventative Maintenance/Surveillance Test work orders in scheduled projects; projecting due dates and ensuring tech spec requirements.

6) Maintains Functional Equipment Group (FEG) groupings and FEG scheduled calendar.

7) Provides detailed planning and scheduling of projects, outages and online work from conceptual planning through execution by assisting the Work Week Managers/Outage Managers and by working closely with projects personnel, engineers, procurement staff, coordinators, contractors and other site employees.

8) Attends/leads regular meetings, and provides scheduling updates/reports as the subject matter expert of the schedule.

9) Develops and maintains critical path logic and constraint based projects/frags by applying a broad knowledge of engineering, procurement, plant systems, maintenance work processes and work management terminology/concepts.

10) Accumulates/codes information for historical data to be used in maintaining realistic future planning and forecasting.

11) Assists the Shutdown Risk Manager and Work Week Manager to assess and address risk impacting activities and issues.

Flex Role:
This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work. Employees will have two options to choose from: 

  • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.
  • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.

 

*Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
